I was definitely excited when I found out my Julep box was coming. After months of getting my nails done at salons, I decided that it was getting too expensive. One place would have bad customer service or another would have prices that went through the roof. Though, it's probably because I get gel nails. With my job, I need gel on my finger nails for it to last longer than a day. But I decided I'd try my hand at doing my own nails. Julep was the answer to that! Now I just need to buy a gel overcoat.
Inside the box is an info card letting you know the benefits of being a maven. There is also a letter from the founder. It's packaged very nicely.
Glycolic Hand Scrub ($23): I love anything to make my hands feel and look better. So I was glad to get this. Then I tried it out. It felt amazing after I washed it off. The box does not lie, it is a "facial for hands". The only problem is that I'm kind of allergic to it! A few minutes after using it, my nose got stuffy and runny. Then I was sneezing uncontrollably. I really like this but I can't use it.
Lena ($14): I really love this color! It is totally a color I would choose for myself. I'm so glad that they sent my the Boho Glam box. Definitely will be using this more in the future.
Stefani ($14): This one I love too! For some reason, I love metallic colors on my nails. It looks really good on too. A keeper for sure and will be using this in the future too.
Okay, so I was not kidding when I said I wanted to learn how to do my own nails. Lucky for me, I got the base done at a salon but this is a learning experience for me. As you can see, I'm certainly a beginner at this. I just need more practice. If there is a book that is about doing nails for dummies, I would totally read it. At least the colors look great. Any advice and/or tips on how to become better at doing nails would be great!
I've been needing one of these so badly! I'm so glad that I got it. I had three of them and they mysteriously disappeared. My guess is that the two cats got to them and now they are probably in one of their various nests in the apartment somewhere. I am pretty sure I won't want it back when I do find it. So this made me squeal with delight.
I definitely want to try this. The only reason I haven't yet is because I just got my toes done and so I don't want to have to do them again so soon. I paid good money on them. My nails currently have gel so one little pad is probably not going to work on it at all. I'll let you know what I think when I get around to using it.
Overall, the total value came out to $51 not including the remover pad and filer. I'm more than happy with this box. It introduced me to some great colors that I loved immediately. I got a new filer which I needed but put off on buying. The only disappointment was the scrub and that is because I'm allergic to it. I'm sure someone in my family will be happy to use it on my behalf though. Can't wait to see what is coming up for next month!
